Luzerner Fasnacht in Lucerne (6 days) 

Luzerner Fasnacht is one of Switzerland’s grandest carnival events, held in Lucerne for six days, commencing on the Thursday before Mardi Gras and culminating on Mardi Gras night. The city comes alive with colorful parades, elaborate costumes, and a jovial atmosphere that’s not to be missed. 

Bern Carnival (2 days) 

In Bern, the carnival festivities kick off for two days, starting on the Thursday evening after Mardi Gras. The city resonates with music, laughter, and a sense of merriment as locals and visitors alike participate in the celebration. 

Baseler Fasnacht in Basel (3 days) 

Basel is home to one of the most famous and unique carnival festivals in Switzerland. The festivities begin at an unusual hour – 4 am – as thousands gather in the freezing cold, eagerly awaiting the four chimes of the city clock that herald the commencement of Baseler Fasnacht. The celebrations span three days, starting from the Monday morning after Mardi Gras. 

During this time, the streets of Basel transform into a lively stage for colorful processions, elaborate costumes, music, and dance, making it a truly unforgettable experience.
