Switzerland's Capital - A Gem of Medieval Architecture in Europe
The City of Bern is the capital of Switzerland which was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites from twentieth century. This beautiful Old Town of city offers shelter or shade to visitors strolling through the city with six kilometers of arcades.
The historical townscape of Bern is characterized by the Clock Tower (Zytglogge), the Prison Tower (Käfigturm), the Renaissance sculptural fountains, the Bern Minster, and the well-maintained tourist attractive places. In countless converted cellars, tourists can explore pubs, cultural venues, and specialty shops to buy local products.
Bern’s old town is encircled by the Aare River. The river offers recreational activities in summer such as swimming and boating. Since Bern was built on a peninsula, it’s all close together and easily accessible on foot, by tram and by bus.
