Switzerland's lowest lying town

Ascona is Switzerland’s most perfect lake town which is famous for its mild climate. It is also called Lake Langen, located at 196 meters above sea level on the northern shore of Lago Maggiore. The church was basilica in 16th century and interior of the basilica is defined by columns. The Old Town’s branching streets lead to the Lake Promenade car-free area with its stunning street cafeterias.

Monte Verità lies above Ascona also called Mountain of Truth. Here at the beginning of the 20th century people who subscribed to ideologies off the beaten track established a colony. The colony attracted worldwide celebrities. Today the mountain is a place where Lucerne and Zurich universities hold seminars, and a museum displays the history of the alternative colony and its founders.

Now, a stunning 18-hole golf course, tennis courts and elegant shopping boutiques, a large open-air swimming pool, stylish hotels and many excellent restaurants, wonderful walks in the parklands, beach, boarding and more, and boat trips on Lake Maggiore are available in the Ascona resorte, which is very close to Locarno.
