Vallemaggia
A valley where nature, culture, emotion and taste come together perfectly
The rivers are a popular place to sunbathe and cool off in the crystal-clear water during the summer. Numerous beautiful pools in many different shades of blue and a few fine sandy beaches are situated along the rivers of Vallemaggia- the magic valley, with rocks smoothed by the rushing sea. A region which knows how best to welcome visitors.
The Maggia River slows its speed in the village of Avegno, offering tourists some superb fine sandy beaches with natural pools sculpted into the rocks. A region which knows how best to welcome visitors. From the usual “grottos” where you can enjoy traditional Ticino dishes in the shade of the trees, to the many restaurants that use the best of the local products.
Winter
Fans of winter sports will be intrigued by the small skiing regions of Vallemaggia where the pistes are carefully and dedicatedly prepared! Particularly thanks to the new ski lifts and its 30 km of slopes, which are always bathed in the sun, Bosco Gurin is once again becoming one of Ticino’s popular winter destinations.
Summer
A dense network of walking trails stretches over 800 km from the foot of the valley to the peaks that reach more than 3,000 meters above sea level is popular if you are not in a hurry and are observant.
All this in an area that is still mostly natural where, over the years, the course of the Maggia River and its tributaries has produced tiny fine sand beaches, big pools and majestic waterfalls.
