Zurich’s Singing Christmas Tree
One of the highlights of Zurich’s Christmas must surely be a visit to the Singing Christmas Tree. This giant Christmas tree isn’t like any other. It’s placed on the podium and filled with laughing, singing people, so you can listen and appreciate their singing while you get your Glühwein. Located in a side street with its own tiny Christmas market added to it, it’s just off Bahnhofstrasse in Werdmühleplatz. It’s very near to the local train station and very easy to access.
If you reach there early, there are benches to sit right in front of the tree. If not, stand right behind and observe the singers (often teenagers or adults) dressed up in their costumes, gives variety of carols and songs.
The Zurich’s Singing Christmas Tree is here only for short time period. It has its last performance on 23rd December, before the tree is disassembled and packed away again for the next year.
Unfortunately, the Singing Christmas Tree won’t be taking place for 2020 – but take a look at the photos here and look forward for 2021, when hopefully it will be back in situ.
