Bahnhofstrasse - Shopping Street
The Bahnhofstrasse, which stretches 1,4 kilo meters from the main railway station to the lake, is one of the world’s most famous shopping streets. In Bahnhofstrasse you can find everything your heart desires: fashion, art and specialties from Zurich attract locals as well as visitors.
The department stores, boutiques and jewelry shops are strung along like pearls on a necklace; the further you walk towards the lake, the more exclusive the shops become. The Paradeplatz is the heart of the Bahnhofstrasse and functions as a big tram nodal point near Lake Zurich. The Paradeplatz has made a name for itself as Switzerland’s biggest money-handling center since major Swiss banks set up their headquarters here. Along the way lead alleys like Rennweg and Augustinergasse through the picturesque Old Town.

Rooftop Restaurant
The top-of-the-tradition fashion store’s Rooftop Bar, Modissa, servescool drinks, creative cuisine and a wonderful view.
- Asian fusion cuisine
- Great view of the bustling Bahnhofstrasse
- Beautiful sun terrace
Visitors can get to the Rooftop Restaurant using the separate Uraniastrasse entrance and take the elevator up to the sixth floor. Here they can sink into a cozy chair and feast their eyes on the mouthwatering dishes on the serving trolley that pass them by. The cuisine as well as the cocktails are Asian-inspired–like dumplings served in bamboo baskets and sake-made drinks.
The stunning terrace, in fine weather, welcomes visitors to enjoy the view of the nearby buildings and observe the hustle and bustle well below on the Bahnhofstrasse. So if you ask whether the restaurant has an official name in reality, the response is: no, it doesn’t, only the three dots.
Brasserie Lipp
Modeling the original restaurant of the same name in Paris, Brasserie Lipp in Zurich is celebrating traditional French home-cooking at the highest level.
- Elegant brasserie
- Near Bahnhofstrasse
- French ambiance
- Belle époque
The Lipp is a cult place to eat in Zurich, too. The belle époche brasserie is located not far from the Bahnhofstrasse and offers the highest degree of French brasserie-style cuisine. The ingredients are selected very carefully and prepared with great passion-so much so, in fact, that it makes a trip to Paris almost superfluous. The menu includes staples like onion soup and choucroute, as well as fish, and the city’s biggest collection of different forms of oysters.
Jules Verne Panorama Bar
Guests will experience one of the most impressive views over the roof tops of Zurich, Lake Zurich, and as far as the Alps.
- Views of Zurich and Lake Zurich
- Close to the Bahnhofstrasse
- Bar service in the evening
- Lunch during the week
part from the famous Jules Verne Panorama Bar in the heart of the city, hardly any other restaurant has such a stunning view of and over Zurich. The locale is located in the same building in tower style as the Urania Observatory, although the two have nothing to do with each other.
Guests can reach the bar through the Brasserie Lipp elevator, providing spectacular views over Zurich’s rooftops. In addition, to the breathtaking panorama, awaiting them here are delicious cocktails and first class wines. Hungry guests can order lunch from Monday to Friday-inspired by French cuisine-or quick snacks at a later hour.
The whole of Zurich lies at guests’ feet at the Jules Verne Panorama Bar while the Alpine panorama beyond Lake Zurich enhances the incredible views even further–the perfect place for romantics.
