Lac de Neuchatel
Lake Neuchatel is surrounded by charming villages connected with regular boat services and also you can enjoy the nature, gentle waves, peace and fine food. The most of the boats have an on-board restaurant and bicycle transport facility when possible.
South-eastern lakeshore can be reached by the national “Mittelland” Cycle Route. The trip from Neuchâtel to Yverdon-les-Bains at the western end of the lake takes 2.5 hours.
Visitors can find the Morat lakes, Neuchâtel and Biel lakes and the romantic St. Peter Island in the Three Lakes cruise.
The lake shores of Neuchâtel offer numerous choices for a relaxing swim, between equipped beaches and small stony coves. It is recommended to comply with basic precautionary rules and to keep an eye on children since swimming is not supervised. The water quality is ideal for swimming everywhere as shown by the studies carried out by the Cantonal Service for Consumption and Veterinary Affairs.
The “Neuchâtel” steam ship has returned to service at age 102 since 2014 after a 45-year time out. It was built in 1912 and is therefore a true cultural heritage. A long time restoration has been completed in this historic ship and now the chance to explore the landscape of the three lakes of Jura.
