Oeschinensee - Large Mountain Lake

The Oeschinensee is located above Kandersteg ( Bernese Oberland ) in Switzerland . The water level of Oeschienesee is on average at an altitude of 1578 m. At normal water level, the lake is 56 m deep and has an area of ​​1.1 km², making it one of the larger mountain lakes in Switzerland. The Oeschinensee is a UNESCO World Heritage Site Since 2007 and is considered by many to be the most beautiful mountain lake in the Alps.

The Oeschinensee is a popular bathing lake in summer. There is a summer toboggan run at the mountain station of the gondola lift. At the lake there are two hotels with restaurants, several different barbecue areas and a rowing boat rental.

There, cozy mountain restaurants and accommodations invite you to linger. You can rent boats and fish on the lake. Hikers will also get their money’s worth with the various routes and mountain hiking trails that can be found at Oeschinen. A perfect family outing with lots of wonderful impressions for the whole family. Also a perfect place for those looking for relaxation. In winter you can go skiing, sledding, winter hiking and ice fishing at Oeschinen. There are two ski lifts and a rapid valley run for all ski enthusiasts.
