Rheinfall
Amongst the largest waterfalls in Europe
The Rhine Falls are one of the largest and most water-rich waterfalls in Europe with 23 meters high and 150 meters wide. The Rhine Falls are only a few kilometers from Lake Constance and one of the great attractions in this region. This stands to the west of Untersee in Switzerland and draws a number of tourists who have a spectacular view of the water masses between the rocks from many platforms. The little castle of Wörth, which sits on an island in the Rhine, is another sight. Don’t miss the impressive natural phenomenon of the Rhine Falls when you’re on holiday at Lake Constance or in the surrounding area.
Â
Trips by boat
Shorter and longer trips by boat are provided to the Rhine Falls as well as to the Schloss Laufen, which is situated on the other side of the Rhine. On such a round trip or passing, you can feel the falling water masses at close quarters.
A youth hostel is partially occupies the premises of Schloss Laufen. The historic building is reminiscent of famous personalities and offers impressive experiences that are directly linked to the natural power of the water and the fantastic landscape.
A reservation is recommended for groups who like boat trips (take place from April to October). The natural beauty of the Rhine Falls is viewed as one of the adventure paths that have been set out across the Schloss Laufen.
Excursion boats leave from Wörth and the banks of the Rhine to get close to the waterfall and drop you off on the rocky middle island if you want to get off there. From here you can ascend steep stairs to a viewing platform giving a spectacular view of the thundering waterfall.Â
You will take back to the banks of the Rhine by the excursion ship, which is steered by a skilled captain on the way back through the undulating and spraying water.
Interesting information on maritime activity and the importance of Swiss waters can be contained on a guided tour.
