Schilthorn - One of the highest peak in UNESCO heritage list
The Schilthorn (2,970 metres (9,744 ft)) which offers 360-degree panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and more than 200 other peaks. It overlooks the wonderful valley of Lauterbrunnen. The green vally lies in the Bernese Oberland of Switzerland. Schilthorn is the highest mountain among the peaks found in north of the Sefinenfurgge Pass.Â
The highest peak can be reached by a cable car from city of Mürren. You can enjoy not only the great view from the observation platform, but also can experience the revolving panoramic restaurant.
A series of cable cars must be taken to the Schilthorn from the valley floor. The cable cars starts their journey from Stechelberg then leaves to Gimmelwald and next onto Mürren. Then, in Mürren another cable car will take you to Birg. That is the final change before the Schilthorn.
It is also possible to experience a thrilling hike to the peak. The hike to the top takes about five hours from Gimmelwald for a standard walker.
