Stoos Ski Resort
The ski resort Stoos is located in the Canton of Schwyz, Central Switzerland. The ski resort of Stoos and the car-free village of Stoos are located high above Lake Lucerne.
Leave behind the stresses and strains of everyday life and be part of the beautiful nature while skiing. Winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy slopes of all difficulty levels for skiing and snowboarding, most of which are fairly challenging. Freestylers can have a blast in the snowpark and there is a children’s area in the ski resort of Stoos for younger visitors.Â
Skiing becomes a pleasure with the proper method. Children learn the method in a playful way at the Stoos Swiss ski school. In the Stoos village, there is a ski school area with two magic carpets as well as two T-bar lifts with short easy runs. Skiing becomes a pleasure with the proper method.
Between the Klingenstock and Fronalpstock mountains, visitors can enjoy breath-taking views of the lake and mountain landscapes of central Switzerland from the slopes. Vehicle-free zone, open and diverse range of pistes – the Stoos winter sports region is popular with families.
Stoos is best suited to beginner-skiers and snowboarders but there is also some terrain for experts. There are 15 kilometers (9 miles) of cross country ski trails at Stoos. You’ll find plenty of vertical but most of the pistes are quite wide, which is great for those that need to make turns to control their speed.
The winter sports resort also offers cross-country trails, snowshoe trails, winter hiking trails and sledge runs.

How to Reach there
you can drive or take a bus to the valley station shown below where you will take a funicular train up the mountain. The train is scheduled to run every 30 minutes.
By car: The Stoos funicular doesn’t have an address, so I usually put Illgau as my destination in my GPS, which is at town a little past the Stoosbahn. You’ll see the funicular base station on your right before reaching Illgau. Park in the metered lot next to the station.
By transit: Take a train to Schwyz, Bahnhof, then bus #1 to Schwyz, Stoosbahn, which is adjacent to the funicular base station.
