Grindelwald - Wengen Ski Resort

The Swiss ski resort Grindelwald Wengen, a superb ski destination & part of the gobsmacking is surrounded by the mountains Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau and Lauberhorn. When you go skiing in Wengen you might also like to take the mountain railway up to the Jungfraujoch – it is not for nothing that this mountain is often called the “roof of Europe”.

Beginners can also enjoy the feeling of skiing at the foot of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, while there are also a couple of more challenging runs for experts. For skiing and snowboarding, there are 102 km of slopes available. 24 lifts transport the guests. The winter sports area is situated between the elevations of 944 and 2,320 m. From the slopes you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau (UNESCO World Heritage Site). On clear days, you can even see all the way to the Vosges Mountains and the Black Forest.

Average snow depth during the season is 50 ” at summit elevation and 14 ” at base elevation. Snow coverage is usually best during March, offering an average snow depth of 60 ” at summit elevation and 14 ” at the base. Therefore Grindelwald – Wengen is among the 10 ski Resorts with best snow conditions in the Bernese Oberland.

How to get there

 The ski area is accessible from both Grindelwald and Wengen with the cog railway (Wengernalp Railway) or with a cable car (Grindelwald-Männlichen aerial gondola or Wengen-Männlichen aerial cableway respectively). A network of public bus connects the train stations to the various parts of the village and the ski lifts. The big plus of this region is its accessibility from Bern, whether by car (1h15) or train (1h30).

In winter, a ski bus runs every 15 minutes between the ski areas of Grindelwald-First and Kleine Scheidegg.
