Popular Four-Lake Hike
There are so many hike areas in Switzerland. Here only you can experience a mountain view around mighty Mount Titlis, unique flora, fresh waters of 4 Lakes. glassy Lake Trüb, deep blue Lake Engstlen, turquoise Lake Tannen, picturesque Lake Melch are the four lake. Also you can enjoy the views of the distant Bernese Alps.
The popular Four-Lakes-Hike starts from the Melchsee-Frutt cable car station. The first lake on the hike is Lake Melch which is popular with fishing enthusiasts. Next stop of the so called four lake hike is Lake Tannen, located in flat high valley, is a well-sutable place for barbecue grill with its roofed seating. It is the only artificial lake among all the four lakes. At the Engstelnalp you can take a little break at any restaurant there and continue your hike to the Engstelen lake (Engstlensee) which is the most beautiful lake out of four.
After that, you will reach the Jochpass. There you’re rewarded with the stunning views of alpine meadows. Also you can see the Lake Trüb and the majestic Mout Titlis on the other side. There is also a restaurant to take a break if you need. Then, finally you will reach the destination and last lake, Trüb.
With its straight pure hiking time of 6.5 hours, the four lakes walk would be a good level of fitness though, you can experience the long hiking with your family and friends along with breaks including little boating or fishing and foods.
There is also the facility to spend the night in one of the guesthouses on the way and carry the walk on next day.
The starting point is Melchsee-Frutt, which is accessible via cable car or hiking trail from Stöckalp.
